Society for Prevention of
Cruelty to Children
Our mission is twofold:
To advocate for children's safety, and
to promote civility in children.
The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children (SPCC) is a division of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Humans (SPCH) which was founded by author Stanley C. Baldwin in 2007.
Concerned about today's fractious and often abusive society, Baldwin wrote a book entitled A Funny Thing Happened on My Way to Save Civilization. This book (the SPCH Manifesto) is his humorous yet serious personal account of learning to be a decent human being. His revelations offer readers many insights into their own shortcomings and suggests ways to become agents of change. For more information on SPCH, visit http://www.preventcrueltytohumans.com/
In this spirit, the SPCC Division focuses on children. Too many of the smallest members of society become victims of abuse and, sadly, "pass it on" through antisocial behaviors such as bullying or hazing. SPCC aims to address such abuse and to affirm and reward those who pursue paths of kindness.
Our objectives:
To raise public awareness of cruelty/abuse directed toward children,
To commend those who actively advance children's safety,
To affirm children in their love for babies, the elderly, and those with special needs,
To reward children for kindnesses noted by others, and t
o discourage bullying of any kind.
There are many opportunities for helpers to research child abuse in its various forms and to report those findings on this website. Opportunities also exist for those who would like to take part in presenting sanctity of human life materials to elementary-age children, K-6. These materials are already being used in schools (public and private) as well as in church settings.
